About these terms
CV One lets you create, customize and publish professional portfolio websites. These terms apply to our website, our application and the portfolio websites you publish with it (together, the “service”). Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, and our Acceptable Use Policy sets out what is not allowed. Both are part of these terms.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed it.
- An account is for one person. Do not share it, sell it or create accounts to get around plan limits.
Plans, payments and cancellation
Plans
We offer a Free plan and paid plans (Pro and Pro+). The features, limits and prices of each plan are shown on our pricing page. Limits include, for example, the number of portfolios, the number of published portfolios and the number of CV imports per month.
Payments
Paid plans are billed in advance, either monthly or yearly, through our payment provider. Monthly billing comes with a 12-month commitment. Prices are shown before you pay, and taxes may apply depending on where you live.
Renewal and cancellation
Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel. You can cancel at any time; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for (or, for monthly billing, the end of your 12-month commitment), and your account then moves to the Free plan. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refundable.
Changes to plans and prices
We may change our plans or prices. If a change affects a paid plan you are on, we will tell you in advance, and it will apply from your next billing period. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then.
Moving to a smaller plan
If your plan changes and you use more than the new plan allows, some features or content may become unavailable. For example, additional published portfolios may be unpublished. Your content is not deleted because of a plan change.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you add to CV One, including your profile information, text, images and files (“your content”).
So that we can run the service, you give us permission to store, process, copy, adapt (for example, to resize images or fit content into a template) and display your content, and to make it publicly available when you publish a portfolio. This permission lasts while your content is on CV One and ends when you delete it, except for copies we must keep by law.
You are responsible for your content. You confirm that you have the right to use it and that it is accurate. In particular, do not publish qualifications, employers, projects or results you did not have, and do not publish other people’s personal information without their permission.
AI-powered CV import
The CV import uses artificial intelligence to suggest profile information from a CV you upload.
- Results may be incomplete or contain mistakes. Review and correct everything before you import it and before you publish.
- Only upload your own CV, or a CV you are allowed to use.
- Imports are limited per month depending on your plan.
Publishing and your portfolio address
When you publish a portfolio, it becomes publicly available at an address based on your username. You can unpublish it at any time. We may refuse or reclaim a username that is misleading, infringes someone else’s rights, impersonates someone or is reserved for the service.
Acceptable use
You must use CV One in line with our Acceptable Use Policy. We may remove content, restrict a portfolio or suspend an account that breaks it.
Our service
- We work to keep CV One available and reliable, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
- We may change, add or remove features. If we remove a significant feature from a paid plan you are on, we will tell you in advance.
- Features marked as beta or preview may change or be withdrawn.
- Keep your own copy of anything important, such as your CV.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using CV One and delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deletion becomes permanent after a 30-day grace period, during which you can cancel it.
We may restrict or suspend your account or portfolios, with notice where reasonable, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if we are required to by law, or to protect our users, visitors or the service. Where possible, we will explain why and give you a chance to respond.
Our intellectual property
CV One, including our software, designs, templates and brand, belongs to us or our licensors. You may use our templates to create and publish your own portfolio on CV One. You may not copy, resell or redistribute our templates or software, or use them outside the service.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we do not give warranties that it will meet your needs, for example that a portfolio will help you find a job or a client. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as loss of profits, opportunities or data, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We do not exclude liability where the law does not allow it, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let you know by email or in the application before they take effect. If you continue to use CV One after that, the updated terms apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction]. Disputes will be handled by the courts of [Jurisdiction], unless the law of the country where you live as a consumer gives you the right to bring a claim there.
